Museum of Cool
Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at 01:47PM Some awesome finds I caught in my net this week while trawling the cyber oceans. Going to be making Museum of Cool a weekly thing, so, if you see anything you'd like featured just mention it in the comment box below or send me info through my contact form! Anything that's wacky and beautiful will do :D

Romeo gun by Galibardy
Isn't this super? I've wanted a 'golden gun' for a while. I'd actually like a real golden gun with real golden bullets, for my likely encounters with discerning werewolves. I like that it's called 'Romeo Gun' too, it makes me think of Baz Lhurman's R+J, which is a visual feast.

Kim Keever's amazing set up..
You have to check out this guy's unbelievable artworks... I posted here a 'behind the scenes' shot, the paintings themselves are actually mindblowingly beautiful. It's not often you come across something this original and bizzarre.. he constructs landscapes inside a 200 gallon tank, which he then fills with water and photographs. In some ways his effects could be achieved through digital processing.. but he does it the good old fashioned analog way, with a camera. I have to love someone who still goes down the hands-on route these days, speaks mountains of nuts and more than a little panache.
Mark Johns turns his off-the-wall ideas into these whimsy designs that make me think of those old-school 'one sentence per illustration' children's books. They're so funny and random.
Part of the Smoking Kids series by Frieke Janssen
I happily stumbled across the work of FRIEKE JANSSEN yesterday through the above image, which led me to his amazing gallery of work. He really takes photo manipulation to new heights, with hyper-real elements slightly skewed into the surreal. I absolutely love his work see more here.
...that's yours truly, photo by the wizard Miki Barlok
I was asked by Cork-based designer Laura Eliason to style one of her kickass scarves as part of a blog project showcasing her amazing pieces. Check out the post, where she asks me to talk about my personal style and also make sure to take a look at her hand-dyed silk scarves, pure wearable art. :)

The Mark Johns illustration has so much Lowry about it. Love it (and I love Lowry too)
